Bear Ride 2016

It’s on again in 2016.

The Bear Ride 2016

The Bear Ride 2016

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead thanks the riders who raised just over $15,000 and provided 16 “adventure” Bears (and their stories) to the hospital and individual kids in 2015.

This year the formula will be the same.  Teams of riders will be asked to “purchase” a special Bandaged Bear during July and August.  Actually, they will only be Bear sitting.   All the Bears will become prizes for the kids in hospital.  Teams will have until the end of September to take their Bear to various locations around Australia and photograph it enjoying an adventure.

The best photos will be chosen by the kids in The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, not some photo guru or journalist.

Each registered team will need to raise a minimum of $50 to receive their Bandaged Bear.  To be entered into the “best photo” category, each team will have to raise a minimum of $500.

Teams can be formed by any means.  Eg, groups of friends, riding clubs or motorcycle dealers.

In 2015, the winners of the photo competition were announced at Breakfast Torque in October.  This year we are extending the timeframe into 2017 so riders and teams can enjoin more adventures over the warmer riding months.

The Everyday Hero website worked well for managing the money last year so we are arranging that again for 2016. The link for donations is Everyday Hero Bear Ride 2016

A Huge Success in 2015

bearride3

Thanks to all the riders and sponsors of the first Bear Ride.  Together we raised just over $15,000 for  The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

This is the best ever result in 11 years of our annual funding raising rides.

The winning photos chosen by the Hospital went to the Briggsey Bear team and Felix The Foster Bear Team.

The most funds raised by a single team was just over $4,100 by the Hairold team.  Excellent work.

Last Friday we handed the Bears to the Wards and a few kids in the hospital.  It was a lot of fun and somewhat emotional.
